Reliable pet owners want to make sure that their cat is furnished with all of their basic needs. This will allow them to have longer and healthier lives. These needs include a safe environment, good nutrition, and regular health care.

Cats need to be in an area that they feel is secure. Although they have wild cousins who are ready to confront the perils, the domestic feline cannot protect herself from many of these troubles. Potential perils include automobiles, poison, wild animals, and even stray pets. There is only one way to protect against these. That is keeping your pet indoors at all times. With decent stimulation, inside of a home can be just as fascinating as the outside, and a lot healthier.

The next thing that your pet will need is a good diet. Since cats are obligate carnivores, they need meat to live. This is the only means for them to get the essential amino acids that they require. You’ll wish to look for a food source that has the right calories, nutrients, proteins, and minerals. In addition to buying dry and wet food for your pet, you can supplement their diet with raw meat.

Regrettably, obesity is an issue for several cats. There are a couple of ways to combat this. One is to make sure that your pet is able to get all of the nutrients she needs without eating too many calories. There are some fillers in commercial food that are best avoided. The other key is to moderate the portions. Don’t leave food ready at all times if overeating is a problem. Instead, feed them a few times a day. If you don’t control their weight, they can form health troubles such as osteoarthritis and diabetes. Also look for low pH levels and foods low in fiber.

Fresh water is just as significant as food for your feline’s wellness. A cat not drinking an adequate amount could be a sign of an underlying wellness problem. Since canned food is 70%-80% water, your kitty won’t require as much water as they would if they were on a purely dry food diet.

Vegetarian diets aren’t acceptable, because they lack some of the amino acids that cats need for wellness. One of these is taurine. An inadequate amount of taurine can contribute to problems such as lowered immunity, blindness, deafness, and cogenital defects. Another amino acid, arginine, governs the amount of ammonia so that it won’t become deadly.

Health care is the other basic need that your kitty will require. Get them the vaccines that they need when they need them. Get them frequent check ups. You’ll need to give them something to prevent fleas and ticks.

Of course, these are the most basic needs. You’ll also need to groom your cat, play with her, and provide her with the love that she requires. Each feline will have different wants, and they will communicate these to you.

Some pets long for fresh air, but it is never good to put them in a dangerous situation. If you do want to let them out, invest in some large cat enclosures that will protect them from most dangers.

Living in a cat free household and your life is incomplete. However if you are about to take on a cat for the first time, understand one thing. You are not adopting it, the cat is adopting you.

Don’t for one second think your cat will eat any old cat food. Even though a cat can’t talk, it will soon enough let you know what food it likes, and woe betide you if you try to give it anything else. Cats have a time they will eat, and you won’t change that either.

Cats will take over your bed, and if you try to return them to where you want them to sleep they will have a solution for that. Your little feline friend will literally scream the place down until they are restored to where they want to sleep.

There is little doubt you will end up realising that it chose you as its owner. Remember when you went to view the little ball of fluff that is a kitten. Why did you choose the one you chose? The answer is because it liked you and made itself so attractive you had to take it home.

If you’ve ever thought about giving your cat a companion, then maybe you need to think again. An unwelcome addition will cause your cat to use corners of the house as a toilet, possibly its a territorial thing, but more probably it is just registering disapproval. get rid of the visitor and you will get rid of the problem.

Cats do catch and eat wildlife, that is in your nature. If your cat really loves you it will bring the conquests home to show you, so be prepared for some nasty shocks on the mat.

If you don’t do exactly what your cat wants, and feed it on what it wants it will go elsewhere. Cats that disappear at night are probably giving someone else the benefit of their love, and eating their food too. There is little loyalty in a cat.

Cats are weird. They will bite, scratch, destroy your clothes, backs of chairs at will. They will choose to sit on your knee, then promptly dig their claws into you, probably as a gesture of affection. Worst of all you will let them do it.

Finally, we love them to bits. There is nothing quite like a warm purring ball of fluff sitting on your knee in front of a hot fire on a winter’s evening to make you feel loved. Just don’t kid yourself, it’s only because you are the best or only option at that moment in time.

They do like a choice of food so you may have to open more than one can a day. They like to show you their butts allot. If you’re in any doubt, carry out a simple flea check. cat fleas natural

Cats are pretty independent and don’t relish being told what to do. So, to be forced into a cat basket and travelled around in a metal box is not generally something they look forward to. To make matters worse, they usually wind up at a place with unpleasant smells and an aura of fear, the VET. Their only reward being a sharp needle and having their mouth prised open.

So it’s up to us humans to make this experience as comfortable for our cats as possible.

To begin with, cats need to be put into a basket. Most of us will fetch the basket out of storage shortly before we intend to go, this can mean the cat will start to associate the basket with the trip to the vet. You can help avoid this happening by bringing out the basket out at few days ahead of time and placing it somewhere where your cat will see it every day. As cats like to hide in small spaces, they sometimes actually see it as a place of sanctuary, and it can be quite difficult to get them out of it at the other end! Having a basket where you can take the complete top off, for easy access, is certainly useful in these cases.

Cats can have different ways of handling stress. There are cats that will go quite quiet and withdrawn, however, others will start howling as soon as the car starts rolling. On the whole, it’s the sensation of movement that’s beyond their control that upsets them most.

For this reason it’s important to secure the basket in the car with a seat belt, to avoid undue jolting, and keep movement to a minimum. Drive more considerately as well, be aware of junctions and roundabouts, so that you can anticipate them and negotiate them as smoothly as possible and avoid those sudden changes in direction. Fresh air is important too, so keep the car well ventilated.

If your cats are car sick, and some do suffer, then it’s possible to get appropriate medication from your vet. Under no circumstance use human medicines to try and treat your cat yourself. If your cat is highly stressed, there is a spray that you can use in the basket and car that gives the area an aroma of calm and tranquility for cats – Feliway. It’s very useful stuff for applying in areas where your cat may be stressed, for instance cats living in homes with other cats, may get stressed and this can be a useful treatment for this, also if you’ve had building works or are thinking of going away on holiday, this can be used to help reduce the level of stress in your cat.

Cats like licking themselves clean. Nevertheless, this in it might not end up being sufficient to keep them looking clean and neat, and thus, as a cat owner, you must help to keep cat’s hygiene at its best. It is very necessary to learn about simple cat grooming tips which will help you get your goals.

Cats with short hair, for example, do not require too much cat grooming as is the case with cats whose hair is long. It is however, still important that you do cat grooming twice in a week in the case of short haired cats and daily in the case of cats that have long hair.

Free from Fleas and Ticks

Good cat grooming helps to make sure that the pet remains free from ticks and fleas and it also gives the owner an opportunity to inspect the cat for signs of abnormalities such as inflamed skin as well as bald spots. Pet owners can also make sure that their cat’s good health by keeping their pet’s hair well washed and neat and even by combing and trimming the hair regularly.

Another aspect to get affordable cat grooming involves making certain the cat’s hair does not ball up or becomes matted. You should be very careful when cutting the matted hair and if you do cut the matted hair, you must do so by using cat grooming scissors while also, as well, ensuring that you do not puncture or scratch the pet’s skin.

When brushing the cat’s hair, you need to choose a brush that has tiny (and, extra) pins on this and that also has a tiny head to ensure easier brushing. Good cat grooming also requires that you brush the cat’s hair in direction of the hair growth; otherwise, you may end up getting a very angry cat who will snarl at you because of the discomfort caused when you brush in the wrong direction.

Bathing the cat is an essential factor of proper cat grooming and for best results, makes sure to utilize a towel as well as tiny carrier with which to keep your cat calm during his bath. You have to also ensure that using a great cat shampoo that will give a good lather and the shampoo that you use must also be able to remove dryness as well as flaking from the skin.

To have the best results from your cat grooming endeavors, you must also get some cat grooming tools including a metal comb that is an essential tool that must, at least, have wide-set as well as rounded teeth; such a tool is not costly and quite readily available as well. Trimming the cat’s hair is an important part of cat grooming and it requires using a right pair of grooming scissors and a comb to avoid accidental puncturing or scratching of your cat’s delicate skin.

If you want to take care of your cat, going to veterinarian which has veterinary medical equipment and stereo zoom microscope will be a good option for you. These equipments are a great way to keep the healthy of your cat.

We recently bought a Booda clean step from Amazon for our cat, looking at the pictures we knew it was quite big but we were surprised when it arrived, the box it came in was enormous however when we took it out of the box we knew straight away what a great and fantastic cat box this is going to be.

We decided on the Booda clean step because my partner and I wanted to stop the cat throwing his mess all over the bathroom floor so we looked into the Booda Dome.

The Booda is 50% bigger than the normal cat litter boxes so this would provide him enough room to do his business.

The Booda Dome helps to clean the cats paws through a ramp that the cat has to walk through, the rump has a textured feel, this helps eliminate the cat litter.

The Booda features an innovative and excellent design that not only makes it look huge but also the cat can do is business in private and also you get an excellent stylish cat litter box that won’t put your home out of style.

Another neat feature is the fact that its 99% odor free, also the Booda clean step comes with a built in filtration that attaches to the roof of the dome. This helps to eliminate 99% of the odors.

The Booda Dome is priced at $27-$35 and in all honesty after getting one I can say the money is well spent. The quality is excellent and it will certainly last a long time. If you really want quality then you absolutely must get the clean step litter tray.

Although we have a scared little cat he was a little hesitant to go in it at first, but now he has got used to it he doesn’t have any problems and what’s even better is the fact that we don’t have to pickup his cat litter off the floor anymore. Whoop! Whoop!

Get the latest reviews on the Booda Clean Step Litter Box otherwise known as the Booda Dome. Visit us at http://boodacleanstep.com for more information.

Online Grooming School is an online video course that allows users to learn necessary pet grooming skills without having to visit an actual pet grooming school.

Online Grooming School is an online video course that allows users to learn necessary pet grooming skills without having to visit an actual pet grooming school.

So, this sounds like a great idea in concept, especially if you simply aren’t able to visit a pet grooming school in person. But the important question that needs answering is: does it actually work?

To be honest, I was very skeptical when I ordered this course. However, I decided to purchase anyway. For starters, I was sick of paying someone else to groom my own dogs, and I knew that I could save a lot of money if I no longer had to outsource.

Secondly, I bought the course because it was much less expensive than it would be to attend a pet grooming school, and also because there are literally no pet grooming schools within an hour of where I live. I’m a busy mom, I don’t have time to drive miles and miles away to attend a school.

There was also one more reason why I decided to take the plunge and buy the course. Online Grooming School has a brilliant guarantee. That’s right, if you’re not 100% happy with the course, you simply ask for a refund, and your money will get returned to you in full. This means there’s absolutely no risk in investing in the program.

What did I learn from the course? Surprisingly, I learned pretty much everything that it’s possible to learn in a pet grooming course. The videos were of fantastic quality, and were surprisingly easy to follow. I had somehow imagined that video based learning would be difficult but I was wrong. Not only that, but you can naturally watch the videos over and over, and rewind if you miss anything. I actually think this makes the course a little better than one undertaken in a classroom where you can’t get things repeated over and over, and go back to them days or weeks later.

Initially I purchased Online Grooming School because I wanted to learn how to groom my own dogs, but I enjoyed it so much that I started to consider a career in dog grooming. This was a great move for me as I wanted a job when my kids started school, but I needed something that I could work around their schedules, and for that reason pet grooming was perfect. I was able to get certified through Online Grooming School, and I practiced on the pets of friends, family and neighbors, until I was confident enough to begin selling my pet grooming services.

Do I recommend Online Grooming School? Yes, I do! It’s a great program for those who want to become professional pet groomers who don’t have the opportunity or money to train elsewhere.

To learn more about this course, visit Pet Grooming School Info and learn more about starting a dog grooming business.

Our pet cats love to play, and it’s easy to spend a lot of money on toys to keep them amused. Some of the best toys are those that are self-propelled, these trigger those hunting instincts within our cats. The trouble is, just like kids, they will still get bored with them after a while.

This is how you can make your own self-propelled toy that will cost you nothing but a few household items!

The items you’ll need are:

Cotton reel (wooden or plastic)

One candle

A common matchstick

A 6 cm rubber band

A pencil cut to roughly 10 cms

This toy is based on the traditional “toy tank”. Firstly, if you have a wooden cotton reel, use a sharp penknife to cut notches into the lip at both ends of the reel. Space them evenly, about one centimetre apart, these will give it grip as it moves around the floor. If you have a plastic reel, you can use a file to make the notches.

After this, pass the rubber band through the hole in the centre of the reel, leave the band so that it sticks out of each end. Place the matchstick it through a loop at one of the rubber band and pull the other end so that it presses tightly against face of the reel, you’ll need to cut it so it is slightly narrower than the reel. Secure it with some sticky tape.

Take the candle and cut off a 15 mm piece, bore a hole where the wick is with the blade of a pair of scissors, make it large enough for the rubber band. Pull the unused loop of the rubber band through the candle and fasten it off with a knot.

To finish, push the pencil between the knot and candle, through the rubber band loop.

Job done. All you need to do is wind up the rubber band using the pencil (approximately 20 times should do). Position it near your pet and watch the fun begin.

Ring the changes:

For added interest you can tape a piece of leather to the barrel of the cotton reel so it makes a “slapping’ sound as it moves. Or, even better, if you have some cat mint in the garden, tape this to the barrel of the cotton reel, this will provide extra cat pulling power!

A wireless fence is a great investment for any pet owner, and there are tons of different options out there when it comes to purchasing the best one for your location. This type of fencing acts as a sort of barrier that neither dogs nor cats can cross -- which is a huge peace of mind for pet owners whose homes are right next to the road, and their furry friends have a habit of wandering.

A wireless fence is a great investment for any pet owner, and there are tons of different options out there when it comes to purchasing the best one for your location. The fence provides an invisible barrier for your dog or cat that keeps them well within their bounds and safely on your property without worrying about them wandering out into the street. They are relatively inexpensive, especially when compared to the cost of a traditional fence, and are nearly one-hundred percent reliable when it comes to keeping your pet where it belongs.

These fences are very easy to install and require no hours of labor over hammering and setting up large stakes like your standard fence styles. Installation of the wireless dog fence is simple; a cable is buried beneath the ground in the formation of the perimeter that you want to set for your pet. The wire works with a radio signal which is relayed to a collar that is worn around the pet’s neck. When the pet gets near this buried wire, the collar will first emit a warning signal that is activated by the buried wire. The pet will back away from the wire’s location or if the dog ignores the signal he will receive a very mild shock of electricity. There are also types of wireless fence kits that feature wireless installation.

The first type of wireless fence is actually fairly high tech. These use GPS systems to locate the “fence” as opposed to you having to lay the wire, so there is no installation on your part. These work well for most pets and homeowners alike, and the added convenience of not having to move the fence physically is nice. This type of system works with a shock collar as well. In the case of larger dogs, a higher setting may be required in order to keep the dog from straying beyond the boundary.

Another benefit to this type of fence is the fact that it does not impede your children’s ability to come and go freely. The fence only affects animals that are wearing the collar that comes with the fence kit.

There is absolutely no need for concern among pet owners for the safety of any human residing in the household when it comes to these products. And although many people claim that the these types of fences are an inhumane product that can hurt the dog, the truth of the matter is that as long the fence is appropriately set up and the shock level for the collar is set to the appropriate weight of the dog wearing the collar, the wireless fence is a perfectly humane pet containment system.

In most cases, if a dog crosses the boundary one time – that is all that it takes to keep him from wandering away again – which makes the system very effective.

There are several misconceptions surrounding the wireless fence. Find out the real pros and cons before writing off these effective and humane safety tools.
