Organically produced fresh dog food was formulated out of zero chemical additives or preservatives. When selecting natural uncooked pet food ensure that it is scrutinized by the USDA.

Natural and organic fresh dog meats shouldn’t possess chemical additives or hormones, and really should be a variety called “free range”.

Furthermore, you can get natural and organic veggies available for purchase that are a terrific addition to your dog’s diet. Incorporating veggies is a great way for you to supply your dog a high fiber dog food diet that gives your dog or cat added health advantages.

An organic raw dog food diet is a good technique to make your pet’s general health for a number of reasons -

- Healthier coat and skin. Natural and organic fresh dog food can help eliminate skin disorders that include dermatitis and itchiness.

- Helps bring the proper and healthy performance of your pet’s digestive and immune systems. It will help your pet dog fight health issues, parasitic organisms as well as deterioration.

- No longer essential to brush your pet’s teeth. The natural and organic raw meat and veggies help clean your dog’s teeth removing the need for teeth brushing.

- Increased energy and vigor. Your pet dog will also feel better and also have more energy! Your dog should usually tend to live longer since he will not come in contact with as many harmful toxins from processed foods.

Organic raw pet food is available at specialty retail pet stores in several sizes such as a 1 pound package.

The vast majority of grocery and normal pet stores tend not to usually inventory natural and organic raw dog food; you will have to visit a specialty store. A number of food markets do stock fresh meats for your dogs, but the truth is they are not normally considered organically produced.

Organically produced raw pet food items include things like:

- Grapefruit Seed Extract

- Amino Acids

- Fresh Garlic

- Mustard

- Collard

- Kale

- Turnip

- Flax seeds

- Kelp

- Organ Meat (liver and heart)

You could have noticed that these components can also be suitable for human well-being as well. It is also called “human grade pet food.”

Organically produced uncooked pet food can be something your pet will more than likely enjoy. It is really worth trying out to find out if it makes a observable difference in your dog’s all around health.

Want to have a little more facts on giving your pet a high fiber dog food or human grade dog food diet? Check out our site at www.barfdogfood.com

Electric cat litter boxes can help home owners and pet lovers save time around the home. When you have a pet litter box for your furry friend to use you will avoid the problems associated with cleaning their household messes. A litter box makes it easy to dispose of your pet’s waste easily.

You will notice that there is a large range of litter boxes in the marketplace these days. Not only is there a price difference between them but there is also a different range of features. You will see at the low end of the market that there are no features and really all you will be buying is a plastic container. The problem with these products is that they require refilling with kitty gravel and regular cleaning. If you do not carry out this regular chore then you will find very quickly that an unpleasant odour will prevail.

The cheap litter trays are really nothing more than a plastic container. Consequently, unless you have the ability to house the box outdoors they can very quickly develop a foul odour. If it is stored indoors it needs to be in a room away from food and small children.

If you want automatic waste removal and to banish the cleaning of litter boxes then look no further than an electric cat litter box. An electric cat litter box offers these features and more to the savvy pet owner.

The litter box operates in an eco friendly way by using internal filters. All the owner needs to do is to pull out the bag and dispose of it. This type of litter box is suitable for small pets including cats. If you live in an apartment you will love this product!

Want to find out more about electric cat litter box, then visit our site and read the reviews of the best litter box reviews for your needs.

Ear mites are tiny white insects that live in the ear canal. They most commonly find their way into the ears of cats, dogs, and other small and furry animals.

Ear mites are tiny white insects that live in the ear canal. They most commonly find their way into the ears of cats, dogs, and other small and furry animals.

Humans are rarely affected by these insects. If you have reason to believe that you have somehow contracted the infection however, you will want to visit your doctor to get it treated. Ear mites luckily do not burrow into the skin and so an infection of the ear canal is the only result.

Infection in animals is spread through direct contact with other infected animals. Outdoor pets are therefore the most commonly affected and infection spreads among animals very quickly. The mites, if untreated, will lead to a variety of health issues. These issues include skin diseases and infections in areas other than the ears as well as eventual deafness.

The symptoms of infection are highly recognizable. The most telltale sign is the appearance of dark crumbly dirt in the ears. If you look closely, you may even see tiny white mites among this dirt. Other signs of ear infection include scratching, shaking of the head, sores in the area of the ears and the mouth, and imbalance.

If your pet does not have contact with other animals and lives indoors but still shows signs and symptoms of mites, it is likely they are actually suffering from some other type of infection. A visit to the vet is recommended to discover the nature of the problem. If the vet diagnoses ear mites in an animal that does not have the ability to contact another infected animal, point it out or find a second opinion. It is unfortunate when animals are put through an ineffective and unnecessary treatment that then has to be followed by a necessary one.

The infection is treated relatively simply. The vet can provide you with an anti-parasitic treatment that will kill the mites. The ears should be cleaned by removing any debris and then the treatment should be applied. There is also an oral and an injection treatment available.

Topical treatments that are available over-the-counter can also be found. These tend to be of an older variety and take much longer to work. They do not kill incubating mites and so these treatments must last at least 21 days, the entire life cycle of the insect. In contrast, topical treatments gotten through prescription only take up to ten days, and there are also several one day treatment options via this route.

This infection can be quite uncomfortable for your pet and really requires medical attention. Early treatment will avoid further complications that can be quite serious and expensive to treat.

Darn those old ear mites! They will not stop biting. Wait, with the right treatment for ear mites, you can put a stop to them. Listen to your pet and get help.

Keeping a pet has never been particularly cheap, especially when it comes to larger pets or more exotic animals. Pet owners know all too well how expensive it can become to keep a pet, and to keep a healthy and happy animal, there is also a high degree of commitment and research required. Because of this, pet owners should seriously consider turning to the Internet to buy the pet products that they need as, not only is there generally much more available, but prices are often better too.

The Internet, as with many things, often offers much more competitive prices than your average high street store. There is also more available to choose from in most cases. Additionally, comparing prices on the Internet is easier, especially with the rise of price comparison websites which make it far easier to find the perfect online store and grab the best bargains. Shopping online is often more convenient for many as well, especially as there is no need for any transport.

Many people new to web-based shopping are anxious about shopping on the Internet because they are worried about potential security problems of paying online or getting the quality they expect in the products that they purchase. However, there is no shortage of reputable dealers out there and you can find them easily through good recommendations and reviews. With quite a lot more choice available, you can get regular pet supplies easily and often spend a lot less money doing so.

Before shopping online, you should also define a budget and decide exactly what products you need for your pet. For products that you regularly require, the Internet is also a great place to go. Online pet stores offer every manner of pet products that you can imagine from everyday supplies such as food and medicine to wide varieties of toys suitable for different types of pets. With customer loyalty programs and other special discounts available in many stores, you can save even more.

For those who have more exotic pets, going to get your supplies from a high street store gets much more complicated and often exponentially more expensive as well due to the lack of competition. The Internet is, again, a much better place to go shopping for your pet in these cases. There are many free perks offered by a lot of online stores as well, such as free delivery and other bonuses. With the amount of money that you can save, you can save up for an extra special pet treat!

Spring is a time of year when our cats can become susceptible to flea infestations, however with the milder winters, infection can occur all year round. Fleas aren’t just an irritant, they can course an allergic reaction in some cats and may transmit disease.

The problem can grow quite quickly as well. In only six months, 200 fleas will have become 10,000!

To stop a flea problem becoming an infestation you need to treat your cat and it’s surrounding area. So what treatments are available to you?

Off the shelf flea treatments:

The main types of treatment available for the treatment of your cat, spot-on remedies, collars, ‘electric shock’ combs, sprays and tablets. The type of remedy you use will largely depend on your cat:

One of the easiest methods to use are flea collars. They’ll be able to protect your cat for up to four weeks. Even so, some owners are uncomfortable having collars on cats.

Spot-on treatments require the owner to place a few drops of the liquid directly onto the skin of the cat, usually at the back of the neck to stop the cat licking off the medicine. This provides a very effective treatment plus on-going protection from fleas for up to 5 weeks, though it can be a two man job on some cats. One of the most effective is Frontline Spot-On but, like all contact medicines, you will need to make sure you get the correct type, as there is a version for cats and another for dogs. Cats can be poisoned by owners who administer the dog formula on their cat!

Electronic combs is a flea comb that emits a mild electric shock, enough to kill the fleas it comes in contact with, but that is harmless to your pet. The benefit here is that no chemicals are involved, but you will need to be thorough with the comb and it can miss the eggs, so you’ll have to keep repeating the process for it to be effective. There is also a slight buzzing noise when it “zaps” a flea that may put off some cats.

Sprays that are designed to be used on your car are an inexpensive way to combat fleas, but cats need to be over 3 months of age, the ‘hissing’ noise may also be a problem for some cats.

Tablets are a very quick and thorough way of ridding fleas on your cat, but not everyone is as good as the vet at administering the pills!

Are you having trouble treating cat mange? There are a lot of other people that have the same problem. Millions of household pets suffer from mites every year, it’s just one of those irritating little setbacks that never seems to be curable like the common cold!

So what exactly is mange and why does it lead to hair loss on your cat? In this article, I’ll give you a little information on the disease and what you can do to start treating it before it spreads.

So what exactly is mange? Essentially, mange is a skin condition that results from the feeding of parasitic mites on your cat’s skin. The mites are microscopic, so they cannot be seen by the naked eye. You might be wondering how something so small can cause such irritating itching since there must be millions of microscopic creepy crawlies all over the place that never bother us? Well that’s because these mites are parasitic – they feast off of their host’s flesh. They’re also powerful in their numbers, being able to reproduce rapidly and survive for 22 days.

You may be thinking to yourself that this is really bad, how am I ever going to keep this from getting worse? Actually, treating cat mange can be very easily accomplished in the early to intermediate stages. This treatment can begin by gently bathing your cat with an anti-parasitic skin shampoo. This will start to kill the mites off. This approach works well when your pet is in the earlier stages of the disease. However, mange can spread into much more delicate regions such as the ear canal which can lead to much more serious problems down the line.

One way to tell if your cat is experiencing major discomfort within the ear is to check your pets ears for any redness or bleeding. This is one of the most serious problems associated with mites, as you must take action or your cat faces losing its hearing permanently. What you should do as soon as you spot any signs of excessive ear scratching or inflamed skin is call your vet.

Your vet can start to apply a medicated ear wax removal solution to begin treating cat mange within the ear. The drops that the vet uses work in the same way that they do on humans. By removing the wax from the ear your basically taking away the main source of food for the mites because it is this wax that the mites feed off of. By flushing out all that excess wax, you should be able to send all those parasites packing their bags. No matter what symptom your cat may be experiencing, you should always consult with the vet to be sure of what it is. The benefit of this is you’ll have a better understanding of what your pet suffers from and to be sure the right treatment has been applied. When treating cat mange, your vet is just a phone call away. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

A variety of parasitic mite is usually responsible for mange seen on dogs. There are three major types of this mange though one is rarer and self limiting. The other types are considered more serious and require intervention in most cases to bring under control. One of the problems with these tiny parasites is they re difficult to identify unless a microscope of magnifying device is used making it hard for the owner to spot them.

A common type of mite infestation is caused by the Demodex mite and known as Demodetctic. Mites are often seen in a dormant condition on puppies, but the numbers are small. Occasionally there may be an overgrowth of the mite population and symptoms can appear. The reasons for this overgrowth are unknown. The puppies who display these mites are usually young, from three to twelve months of old. One of the first symptoms is a thinning of hair around the eyes and muzzle. In some cases the mites can resolve on their own as the autoimmune system regains control and in other cases they can cause infections and wider spread hair loss and itching.

A large reddish brown mite is responsible for the type called Cheyletiella. It might also be called walking dandruff in some places. The name comes from the sprinkling of dandruff that appears on the head, back and ruff of the dog. This problem can be contagious but is also usually resolved within a few weeks. The parasite dies shortly after leaving the host body.

Sarcoptic mange is also called scabies in humans. The mite that is responsible for the symptoms is very tiny and can even elude detection by a microscope and multiple skin and hair samples. The dog further aggravates the problem because the female mite lays eggs beneath the skin and these eggs cause intense itching. The dog will scratch until the fur is gone and the skin is bleeding in an attempt to relieve the itching.

This mite infestation is contagious to human beings as well. A dog might give the mites to the children who in turn may pass it to playmates. In dogs the diagnosis may be based on observation because the mights are not easily found even with multiple samples of skin. There can be typical tiny bite marks near a site but normally the scratching will remove these signs.

However skin conditions which resemble a mite infestation may also have other causes. Allergies to fleas, bacterial infections, or even autoimmune diseases can cause skin problems that may be similar in appearance and mistaken for mites. It is always good practice to take the pet to a vet for a professional opinion before embarking on a home treatment program.

There are many available products to treat this mite infestation in dogs. A rinse made of sulfurated lime applied twice a week can be effective. However pet bedding should be sanitized as well as the environment. Selamectin is approved for use on pets with a parasitic overgrowth in some countries.

Motivating our pet dog or cat to take a lot of water regularly will guarantee good overall health and decrease the possibility of common health complications resulting from lack of drinking water. Some examples are dehydration, developing kidney stones, and etc. An effective way to do is to introduce to him the drinking water fountain. Cats as we all know are very playful in nature; they like to play with small running targets when they find one.

The flowing water from a pet water fountain will surely attract the attention of virtually any curious cat that sees them. This will eliminate the need to teach them on how to make use of it but instead they will discover it themselves. Cat drinking fountains are best for small dog and cat lovers who are very occupied and constantly away from home.

Depending on the unit you ordered and the size of the water reservoir is, you can just fill it up in the morning and it will be more than enough to take care of your pets the whole day or perhaps a couple of days until next refill. If you are preparing to go on a quick holiday vacation, say two or 3 nights, you can combine it with an automatic cat feeder and fill it up just before leaving them. Finally you can take advantage of your holiday without having to worry about your favorite pets. The cat drinking fountain will guarantee that they get refreshingly clear water all the time.

The water fountain works by circulating the water from the water tank by means of a small submersible pump. The water then passes through a set of water filters to filter the water contaminants such as dirt and other impurities that come in contact with the water. It actually has a combo of 2 water filtration systems, a micron filter for foreign materials that are blended with the water and a charcoal filter to get rid of bad flavor and odor. What they get is a crystal clear healthy drinking water whenever they need it. If you want to maintain the proper operation of the water fountain, the filters should be change on a regular basis. These filters can be obtained in most pet shops or in the store where you bought the product.

When selecting a good cat drinking fountain you should consider the following: One is the dimension of the product, depending on the number of pets you have in your home, choose one that have large enough water tank for all of them to avoid refilling it from time to time. Second is, you have to check the water pump, many people who recently own a drinking fountain are complaining about loud noises coming from the pump. You should ask a demonstration first and pay attention to the water pump, if it’s shaking too much or it creates excessive noise then do not purchase it. When you buy a completely new unit it always come with a set of filters and in some cases you also get an extra filter for spare, absolutely free. If it is not included it is recommended to purchase a spare filter for a quick replacement when the old one expires.

Preserving the well being of our four legged friend really depend on us, our pets do not have the capability to tell us what they want. They are only depending on us when we are going to supply them the water they need. Oftentimes we are too busy and we forget and neglect them, pushing them to obtain water on their own and who knows where. If you really like your cat, do them a favor and purchase a cat drinking fountain.

People tend to love their pets just as much as they love their children and it makes them very sad when their pets are unhappy or sick. Pets are likely to be exposed to mites at any given time. Mites and ticks actually belong to the same subclass. Otodectes cynotis is the name of this common species. This mite chooses to live particularly in the ears of specific animals. Transmission of these ear mites can be as easy as two animals passing each other.

A variety of animals are affected by this mite like dogs, cats, guinea pigs and ferrets. It is also possible for people to be affected, although it is rare. Rabbits are affected by a larger mite.

One of the first indicators of a mites presence is brown crusty material in the ears of an animal. The mites can be seen as little white specs in the brown matter within the ear canal. This type of mite chooses not to burrow as other mites do. This is responsible for ear infections in many animals and the number one cause in cats.

The mites can result in both yeast and bacterial infections. The ears of animals will become inflamed and red. It will be noticeable that the animal spends a lot of time scratching at the ear or both ears and shaking the head.

If left untreated the infection is likely to spread to other areas of an animal. It may continue to spread to areas of the neck and tail. The infected animal may end up with a serious skin infection or skin disease. Deafness is another real possibility for an infected animal that goes without treatment.

To treat an animals ears the debris has to be removed first. Medication containing an antiparasitic must then be applied in the ears. If more than one pet is in the household, it is wise to seek veterinary care and have each animal treated with ivermectin. A good drug available for cats is selamectin and this lasts for a month at a time.

Rabbits are affected by larger mites that get into their ears. These mites are called psoroptes cuniculi. The material that is formed in this case is not crusty, but thick and very solid. It is also possible that it will spread to the outside of the ear and face of the rabbit. A rabbit will exhibit the same behaviors as other animals like scratching and head shaking when infected with mites. In order to rectify the situation, the cage and rabbit have to be rid of mites. Clean the cage frequently in order to prevent further infestation. The rabbit can be treated with ivermectin. Another suggested remedy is the application of olive oil. Remove all debris, and then apply the oil in order to smother mites.

Ear mites are a very common problem in domestic cats. In multiple cat households often each cat will be infested as they are easily spread. Ear mites can cause your cat to scratch furiously at the ears, and can be very uncomfortable for your pet. If left untreated, they can cause other, more serious problems.

A thick, dark, waxy or crumbling substance inside the cat’s ears is a sign that the mites are present in the ears. While it can be tempting, do not use cotton swabs to probe deeply into the ears in an effort to remove mites as this can push them further into the ear causing damage.

Quite often, if an infestation has been present for some time, the cat will cause damage to the ears by scratching. There can be scabs and torn areas both inside and outside of the ears, causing pain and further discomfort. This can lead to an infection of the scratched areas. Trimming the nails on the hind feet can help, but treatment and eradication of the mites is necessary. Scratched areas can be treated with a topical antibiotic to prevent infection

It may be advisable to see your veterinarian for treatment of ear mites. Prescription medication can quickly and successfully treat them, and are only available from a vet. They can also clean the ears and remove any build up that may have resulted from the mites.

If a veterinary trip is not possible, some owners can have success using mineral oil. This oil is sparingly dropped into ears and gently massaged. It works to smother and suffocate the mites. Continued treatment is necessary to break the life cycle of the mites.

After two weeks of using the mineral oil, the mites should be eradicated. During treatment the ears can be wiped with a Kleenex to clear out build up. Treat each cat in the house to ensure there is not a cross infection between them, requiring treatment to be started over from the beginning.

These pests can be successfully treated and removed at home, as long as it is done properly. Ensure that the treatment is sufficiently long enough to ensure removal all eggs and mites. If this method fails, see your veterinarian to ensure the problem is looked after as soon as possible.
